America’s Cup in 2013 – Comment on the People Plan

The People Plan is set forth in the America’s Cup Host and Venue Agreement as the vehicle by which the City and the America’s Cup Event Authority agree upon the strategies for transporting spectators to and from the waterfront event venues. This initial draft comes very early in the planning process for the events, and thus becomes a means by which we are able to provide a conceptual overview of the strategic vision for transportation as we continue to add detail to our planning effort. The People Plan strategies are designed in part to enhance the efforts to make this a environmentally sustainable set of events by emphasizing transit and bicycle options over private automobiles, and by developing information tools that can be used to allow spectators to make effective and efficient decisions of how to get to their destinations.
